Weight Loss Medications and GLP-1s

Weight loss medications and GLP-1s are an emerging area of weight management care that our patients are asking more about. For example, you may have heard about semaglutide (Brand names: Wegovy or Ozempic). For some patients, especially those whose weight is impacting their health or those whose previous attempts at weight management have failed, our providers may consider the use of medications for weight management.

Historically, GLP-1s and other weight loss medications have been cost prohibitive for low-income individuals. Our in-house pharmacy operates on a sliding fee scale to offer discounts to people under 200% of the federal poverty limit and helps patients acquire manufacturer copay cards* to get the best price possible.

 

*Manufacturer copay cards are not allowed to be used by people with Medicaid or Medicare. Weight management medications are not
 covered by most of these Medicare/Medicaid plans.
