Girl Scouts Help Brighten the Walls of New Capital Park Family Health Center

COLUMBUS, Ohio— On October 19, Capital Park Family Health Center not only celebrated the Grand Opening of its’ new facility, but unveiled some very special artwork created by local Girl Scouts.

Thanks to a grant from the Franklin County Neighborhood Arts Project, Capital Park Family Health Center and Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council teamed up to brighten the walls of the new children’s waiting area. Capital Park Family Health Center, located at 2365 Innis Road, is a brand new 17,500 sq. ft. facility which provides primary healthcare services to people of all ages. The health center, part of Heart of Ohio Family Health Centers, provides care to more than 3,000 people annually.

Girl Scouts from Junior Troop 50595 and Brownie Troop 2446 spent time learning about healthy lifestyles and creating artwork depicting the theme. Junior Girl Scout Natalie Detwiler led the project to earn her Bronze Award, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can achieve. The troops created 15 pieces of artwork of varying size using crayons, colored pencils and paint. The completed artwork was then framed and hung in the children’s waiting area of the new Capital Park Family Health Center.

“The artwork makes the waiting room a more comforting and inviting space for children who may be nervous about seeing a doctor for the first time,” Heart of Ohio Family Health Centers CEO Joy Parker said.
